SUPPORT THE FARMER FUND
Farming is inherently challenging and risky. But when a natural disaster or medical emergency strikes, farmers, along with their farm businesses, can become acutely stressed, straining their very livelihood.
HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF
Hurricane Helene has profoundly impacted farmers and communities in Georgia and beyond. We have received almost 50 applications for relief aid from farmers experiencing crop loss and infrastructure damage. While we are working hard to distribute the funds raised through our emergency fundraising efforts, the need remains urgent, and additional support will help us assist more farmers as they recover from this disaster. Reports of total crop loss, destroyed greenhouses, and damaged infrastructure continue to highlight how quickly livelihoods can be devastated.
The Farmer Fund was established in 2015 as lifeline for farmers facing emergencies or natural disasters. Now, in the wake of Helene, Georgia Organics and our partners - Food Well Alliance, Wholesome Wave Georgia, Community Farmers Markets, The Common Market Southeast, and The Conservation Fund - are uniting to raise relief funds for farmers and spread the word.
We invite you to donate. Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly support farmers working to rebuild their lives and restore their farms.
In just a few hours, the hard work of entire seasons was lost, and the food our community relies on has been washed away. The effects of this disaster are not just agricultural; they ripple through our local economy and our shared way of life.
Together, we can help our farming community recover and thrive once again. Thank you for your compassion and support during this challenging time.
LET’s BE PREPARED!
The past few years have shown us that we must be prepared for emergencies, and our farmers are especially vulnerable to climate-related weather changes, public health crises, and natural disasters. Furthermore, as a foundational element of our supply chain of healthy local food, they are especially critical to our communities when a significant disaster strikes. Healthy farmers = healthy communities.
Since 2018, more than $390,000 in direct support has been accessed by farmers who’s ability to provide food for their communities has been threated by natural disasters or health care emergencies.
The Farmer Fund is supported by caring businesses and individuals, like you. When you donate to The Farmer Fund, you are providing direct support to farmers facing a temporary and acute need.
Emergencies are unpredictable, and unavoidable. Let’s be prepared - make a donation today!
The Farmer Fund is managed by Georgia Organics, a registered 501(c)3; all donations are tax-deductible.
RELIEF IN ACTION
With support from our partners and the community, The Farmer Fund has mobilized several specific relief efforts for disasters with widespread impacts, including the floods in 2015, Hurricanes Michael and Ian in 2018, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2022/23 Winter Storm Elliott. We want to thank all of our donors and funders, as well as our partners – Food Well Alliance, Wholesome Wave Georgia, Community Farmers Markets, The Common Market Southeast, and The Conservation Fund, who have helped provide a lifeline to partners during these major emergencies.
